New Level Unlocked: 3rd Degree

Yay! Mission accomplished. 3rd degree acquired.

I came back from some time off and decided I was going to take my final tip test for 3rd degree. I passed. I am officially a 3rd degree taekwondo black belt. I am one step closer to being a taekwondo master. While I am happy for this achievement, I am disappointed in my performance. I could have and should have performed better. Regardless it was what I needed to try see my level after my extended break.

Sometimes we need a test to show us where we are and remind us of where we truly want to go. Even when we already know that kick in the backside pushes us a bit harder and gets us back on track is beneficial.

My Goal...

My goals from now to next test is definitely stamina, and 360 kicks. This past test required a 360 spinning hook kick. I thought about this kick the day prior to my test, I knew it was going to be asked of me, but I hoped it wouldn’t. These kicks really take everything that is learned and mash it into one kick.

Luck was not on my side for this test, and I should have trained this kick a lot more. Hook kick was a good portion of the test outside of forms.

These kicks will be my focus as much as possible.

On a high note, I guess I am stronger than I thought. We did a double board break with spin kick (back kick), and it was easier than expected.

Alot of time we tend to downplay our strengths to either not hurt feelings or to not seem arrogant. We need to let our gifts shine in all aspects. I know I do, and I want to stop this and perform consistently at my best.

I am excited for this next chapter.

Time for a new plan of action, refreshed dedication and enhanced discipline.
