Divination is a method to connect to the divine. There are many ways to connect. See my post on Divination here about the types of divination. My primary divination has been tarot, but I have been more and more attracted to the pendulum and runes.
I have decided that the pendulum is first. I want to connect with this method of divination. So, I went out and 8941e- my first pendulum and began the connection process.
What is a pendulum?
A pendulum can be any weighted object on a string. It can be as elaborate as a pointed crystal on a long chain or as simple as a key on a string. The divinity comes from you, not the tool. That said, I got a red Jasper pendulum. Why? Honestly, it called to me and that was that.
What is a pendulum used for spiritually?
It is used to assist you in connecting to the messages of the universe and your higher self. The pendulum can also be used in healing magic. The idea here is that you have all the answers you need locked with in your spirit. Your higher self knows all that is and will be and this helps to unlock those responses, subconsciously.
How does it work?
When you first get your pendulum, you have to connect with it. You have to fill it with your energy. Once you have had it and held it for about 3 days. You should be ready to use it. It works off your energy and the energy around it. Meditation is a good way to start. You can even just carry it around with you for 3 days.
Connection Process
You have your pendulum, now what?
First and foremost, like any other spiritual item, you must cleanse it. Look into the type of crystal you have and the best cleaning method. Some crystals are soluble in water so you would want to avoid that. Air, Earth, and fire are usually the best and safest.
Once cleansed, you will want to program it. You can achieve this by meditating with it and carrying it on your person. You can even charge it if you have a particular purpose for which you will utilize this pendulum.
Now, keep it safe. Like any other divination tool, you want to keep its energy clear and unaffected. Cleanse and clear as you see necessary. I keep all my divination tools sealed away in a little box until I need them to keep their energies safe and untainted.
Calibration
Now, let’s start divining. Before you start asking your yes/no questions, you have to know what yes and no are. Ask the pendulum, “what is yes?” The pendulum should start to move. If not, give it a little swing. It should settle into a repetitive motion for yes. Repeat for the direction of no, maybe, and I don’t know. Once you have how the pendulum will respond, you are ready to inquire to your higher self.
You can take this a step further, and purchase or create a pendulum board or sheet.
