Let’s make some Salt Bowls.
Salt is usually a kitchen staple and can be used for so much, like:
- Cooking
- Ice melting (in the winter)
- Pest deterrent
- Disinfectant
- Stain removal
But salt is also good on a spiritual level. Salt can be used for many things. A few are for cleansing, healing, and balancing energies, as well as protection.
Simple salt. Salt also comes in many shapes, sizes, and types. A few types are your typical table salt, sea salt, Himalayan pink sea salt, and black salt. Of which can be fine, course, or flaky.
Himalayan pink sea salt is what I used for these salt bowls. Fine or course is your preference. I used a little bit of both. This is the salt used in those healing salt lamps. So, I thought it would be perfect for this project.
These bowls are meant to cleanse and clear negative and/or stagnant energies in your home. I also associate salt with protection and utilize these bowls for that purpose as well. These can be placed by an entrance or in highly trafficked areas and can be combined with whatever other elements you choose.
Salt bowls for home cleansing, clarity, and protection.
What you need:
- Salt of your choosing
- Essential oils you associate with your purpose. I used orange, lavender, peppermint, and tea tree. Lavender for peace, peppermint for positivity, orange for happiness, and tea tree for cleansing.
- Any herbs you wish to add. I included bay leaves for stress relief and dried ground spices of rosemary for protection, cinnamon for protection and luck as well as cloves for love and abundance.
- A container/Vessel
What to do:
First, it is important to set your intention. Sit with your ingredients and focus on why you are doing this and what you wish to gain. If you are doing this as a family activity, make sure all are in high spirits and interested in the process.
Next, gather all your items.
1) Sage or smoke cleanse your vessel. You can say, “Of Air, I clear this vessel for its new purpose, with Air shall it provide clarity.
2) Add in your chosen salt – you can say something like, “Of earth, salt, clear and protect my home.”
3) Mix in your dried herbs, and call out each herb’s purpose.
4) Add the drops of your essential oils, and call out each oil’s purpose.
5) Mix it all up, thanking the elements and herbs for their assistance. “So Mote it be.”
You have completed your salt bowl. Place the vessel where you choose. I placed a small one in my kitchen and on my altar.
You can also use this mixture as sprinkled around your home. Only do so if you do not have pets or small children to worry about. Another option is to sprinkle over your carpet, let sit, and then vacuum it up in about an hour for an instant room boost.
It has a purpose...
Remember this salt is to serve this purpose, do not ingest the salt. As you have the salt out it will absorb any stagnant or negative energies and project the intentions you infused it with. Once the salt no longer seems to serve its purpose, dispose of it and make more!
Magic can be simple and found in simple items that we all have, maybe even sitting in our kitchen cabinets.
I hope this helps you feel the best in your space in the new year.
Blessed Be.
